The Overlord Tour
MHRP & GBC Tours are proud to this wonderful 9-day tour deep-diving into Operation Overlord, the Allied attack into Hitler's Fortress Europe.
Dates for this tour typically fall in late June/early July.
Day 1
June/July
Travel Day
Guests travel from all points of the compass, heading for France.
After landing at Charles De Gaulle Airport, the group will meet at the CDG Hilton to begin our journey to Normandy. Alternate arrival points are on the menu as our team is ready to pick up our guests and begin our tour in earnest.
Day 1
Day 2
June/July
The Allies on D-Day
For the first touring day, we'll spend time learning about the actions of our valiant Allies as they stormed Pegasus Bridge and Sword Beach. Once that's done, we'll head over to Arromanches to look over the remnants of 'Mulberry B' and discuss the attack on Juno Beach.
Day 3
June/July
An 'Easy' Day - Day 1
Day 3 is the first 'Easy' day, where we spend the bulk of the day visiting many of the locations so critical to the Band of Brothers on D-Day. Marmion Farm, St. Mere Eglise, the 'Wagon Ambush' site, Le Grand Chemin and Brecourt Manor. At each spot, we'll discuss the actions of so many of the veterans that you've seen in the Band of Brothers miniseries.
Day 4
June/July
An 'Easy' Day - Day 2
On Day 4, we begin our second 'Easy' day, where the real Easy Company ended D-Day, at the small farm at Culoville. From there, we'll migrate towards Carentan, stopping at Vierville and later, Angoville au Plain to visit its famous church. Then it's on to Carentan to walk through Easy's assault into the city, finally finishing the day outside the city, discussing the Battle of Bloody Gulch, which was portrayed so vividly in Band of Brothers.
Day 5
June/July
Battles in the Hamlets & Utah Beach
Day 5 will focus on the battles in a pair of small hamlets, Holdy & St. Marie du Mont, that represent the type intimate fights that took place across the Cotentin Peninsula on D-Day and D+1. Then we'll move down to Utah Beach to see the sights and discuss some of the small unit actions and why the landings there were so successful.
Day 6
June/July
More Airborne Battles
On Day 6, we'll break away from the Easy Company story for a bit to take a look at some of the signature fights of the 82nd Airborne and other 101st Airborne units. We'll spend time at Foucarville, the WXYZ Complex, and the world famous La Fiere Causeway.
Day 7
June/July
The Pointe & Omaha Beach
Probably the most poignant day of the entire tour, we'll spend the morning examining the attack by Rudder's Rangers on Pointe du Hoc, the assault on Omaha Beach at WN62 by the Big Red One, and then spend some reflective moments honoring the fallen at the Colleville su Mer, American Cemetery.
Day 8
June/July
Omaha Beach – Day 2
We’ll spend some time at Dog Green discussing the landings of the 116th Infantry Regiment, and the Rangers, as so brilliantly and heart-wrenchingly portrayed in the opening moments of Saving Private Ryan. We’ll dispel some myths and talk about some of the heroes that emerged that day.
Day 9
June/July
Travel Day - Heading Home
In the morning, we'll grab a quick breakfast before getting everyone to their points of 'embarkation' to catch our flights home.
